DoubleTree by Hilton Zagreb
Location
The DoubleTree by Hilton Zagreb is quite centrally located in Zagreb, close to the city centre. You are only a short walk away from many sights, which is super convenient if you want to explore the city. There are also good public transport connections, so you can easily reach other parts of the city.
For example, there is a tram stop more or less right next to the hotel. However, you should not try to get to the hotel by car during rush hour, as there is a lot of traffic on almost all access roads. It took us almost 90 minutes from the motorway exit to the DoubleTree by Hilton Zagreb during rush hour!
Facilities
The DoubleTree by Hilton Zagreb offers modern and stylish facilities. The rooms are cosy and well-equipped, with everything you need – from air conditioning to a TV and free Wi-Fi. To our great delight, we were given a corner suite, which was really well equipped.
In addition to fresh fruit and selected goodies, we also found a bottle of wine and two bottles of mineral water. The minibar was fully stocked and there was a capsule machine for tea or coffee.
The bathroom has a spacious, floor-level shower and a free-standing bathtub, from which you have a beautiful view of the hotel’s surroundings. There are plenty of towels, bathrobes and cosmetics available. And before I forget to mention it: We found the entire suite to be in an excellently cleaned condition. Even the “usual” spots that are often overlooked were spotless. All respect!
There is also a gym and a pool in the house, ideal for relaxing after a long day.
There is an underground car park under the DoubleTree by Hilton Zagreb, which the hotel shares with other tenants of the building. However, all parking spaces belonging to the hotel and available in sufficient numbers are clearly marked and, what’s more, a friendly member of the hotel staff quickly grabbed our car keys and took care of parking for us.
Amenities
A highlight is the hotel’s own restaurant, where you can enjoy delicious Croatian and international cuisine at reasonable prices. There is also a relatively well-stocked bar, perfect for an after-dinner drink. And of course, when you arrive, you get a freshly baked cookie – it’s a sweet tradition!
Activities in the neighbourhood
There are lots of cool things to discover nearby. Ban Jelačić Square is just a short walk away and is the city’s central meeting point. Zagreb Cathedral and the upper neighbourhoods (Gornji Grad) are also very close by. If you have time, you should also check out the markets and the great cafés – it’s a must in Zagreb!
A very special tip for the young-at-heart crowd is the “Cooltura“. You can easily walk there in ten minutes. It’s a pub like the ones we remember from our student days. Not really bright, but not dim either, decorated with things from the distant past – there’s an old sewing machine next to a tube radio, photos and tools tell of days gone by – in short: a place to really feel at home! There’s even a very good IPA on tap for me!
Otherwise important
The hotel also offers meeting rooms if you are travelling on business. The service is without exception very friendly and helpful, which makes the stay even more pleasant. And if you are travelling by car, there are covered parking facilities, which is not always a given.
Overall, the DoubleTree by Hilton is a good choice, whether you want to visit the city or just relax!
